I found this Daily Prompt and it really struck a chord with me.
I used to cover a module of work entitled loneliness. The students were asked to write a letter to someone back home, imagining that they are lonely.
What did they write?
- being on their own
- isolated in a room
- no human contact
- loss of internet, phone, any contact with people
Is this what loneliness means? Not necessarily. Loneliness is a feeling that happens inside you. You might feel isolated from other people, might feel that they do not nuderstand what you are going through, tha you have no one to talk to or confide in. All these thoughts cuold be running through this guy’s mind, as he stands in the middle of a crowded street.
You do not know what other people are thinking, they might not always show their emotions on their faces.
What can you do?
Smile at someone that you see on your way to wherever you are going tomorrow. it might make their day. Even better, speak to them, say good morning, or something similar, specially if it is someone you see on your travels regularly but do not normally talk to.
A smile is the light in the window of your face that tells people you are home.
